Julie is in her 6th year with 900VB!
For five years she assisted with summer volleyball camps at numerous high schools around the Houston area and at Austin Peay State University.
Julie graduated Alvin High School in 2001. She played varsity for 3 years under Katy Garza. Her freshman team went undefeated the entire season (28-0). On varsity, her sophomore year her team was regional quarter-finalists (33-9) and both her junior (40-4) and senior year (40-4) they were state semi-finalists. Throughout her high school career she earned the following awards: 24-5A 1st Team All-District - 2000-2001; Most Outstanding Utility Player-2000-2001; Stapp-Maxwell Fighting Heart Award 2000-2001; All-District 2nd Team-1999-2000; All-District Honorable Mention-1998-1999
Julie played club volleyball for Alvin Juniors from 1995-1998, NASA from 1998-1999, South Shore from 1999-2000, and Texas Riptide from 2000-2001.
After graduating high school, Julie received a full scholarship to Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was a four year starter and earned the following awards: 2nd in school history for digs, 6th in school history for kills, 5th person to enter “Double Grand Club” (1000 kills and 1000 digs); APSU Scholar Athlete-2004-2005; HCA Tri-Star OVC Scholar Athlete Scholarship-2005; School Record Holder for most digs in one match-2003; Ohio Valley Conference Medal of Honor-2003-2004; Defensive Player of the Week- Sept. 2003, Nov. 2003; Athlete of the Week-2003; Most Improved Athlete- 2002-2003; Governor’s Athletic/Academic Excellence Award- 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004; All-Tournament Team- 2001; Freshman of the Week-2001
After graduating Austin Peay State University, she moved to Dallas to earn her Master’s in Physical Therapy and graduated in May of 2007 from UT Southwestern Medical Center. She now works in Dallas as a PT.
Julie also played on the 900 Coed team that placed 4th at Adult Regionals in 2008 & 3rd in 2009 & 3rd in 2010 & 2nd in 2011. She also played on the 900 sponsored Women's team at Adult Regionals in 2009, the team placed 2nd and she was named to the All-Tournament Team!
Julie was the 900.15.1 Head Coach 08/09 & 09/10, the 900 15 National Assistant Coach for 06/07, and the 900 16 Mizuno Assistant Coach for 07/08.
Julie also does private lessons and Team Camps for 900vb.
Julie and Ben were married 8.28.10!
